How we check what we publish

Updated Sep 28, 2026 ยท By No BS Clean Energy

Every number on this site links to where it came from. Tap one to see the source, the exact section we read, and the day we read it. If we can't confirm a number, we don't publish it. And if a number goes out of date, the site won't build until we check it again.

We read the source itself

We go to primary sources: Rhode Island law, RI Energy's rate sheets and tariffs, the state's program documents, and federal agencies like the IRS and the U.S. Energy Information Administration. A few numbers, like average prices from a solar quote website, come from somewhere else. Their source card says so.

Every number shows its proof

Each number opens a card with its source, the section, and the date we checked it. Our guides also end with a numbered list of their sources.

We show our math

Some numbers we work out, like a yearly bill credit. Tap one and the card shows the formula and the facts it uses, so you can check it yourself.

Numbers we can't confirm

If we can't confirm a number at its source, it stays off our pages. It goes on the data page, listed as waiting on a source, until we can.

Numbers that go out of date

Rates and program rules change. So each number carries a date when it could change. Every time the site is built, it checks those dates. If any number is past its date, the build fails. Nothing new goes live until we read that source again and update the number.

How we make money

Solar installers we partner with pay us a referral fee. You never pay us, and the fee does not change what we publish. Read how we make money.
