It depends on your town. State law lets each town decide by local ordinanceUp to your townProperty tax on solarAsk your town hall whether your town has an ordinance.R.I. Gen. Laws § 44-3-21 whether home solar adds to your property tax. There is no single statewide rule.
So ask your town hall one question: does our town have a solar exemption ordinance?
Why it is not the same everywhere
Some sites say every Rhode Island town gives solar a long tax break. The state law does not say that. It says a town may pass an ordinance that exempts solar. A town that never passed one has not.
